I have had an LG GCE-8160B CD burner for 3 years, running under windoze98. So far, it has been problem-free. Don't buy an LG front-loading washing machine though, unless you are prepared to chain it to a wall . . . they cannot balance the load adequately before spin dry. We now have an Asko.
