What I would honest suggest is that you back up your home directory to a
CDRW, and then just do a straight and clean installation; that way, you
won't take any nasty leftovers with your installation; that's what I've
come to realise - and I went from 9.1 to 10.0 OE; after having
experimented with another machine, that ended up being the best means by
which to upgrade - fresh clean install.
