While trying to register my Open Office to get upgrades, it tells me an "error occured while trying to start the web browser. Please check the OpenOffice.org and web browser settings."

I have done that several times and find nothing wrong. Can someone give me an example of how the "OpenOffice.org/external programs" is suppose to look?

Should I doing something with the web browser? I'm using Kontact(mail) and Konqueror(browser). Mandrake 10.0 with OpenOffice 1.1

What am I missing?

Your help is much appreciated, rookie to linux.

Thanks in advance,
BJ

Hi BJ

If you are happy installing from a tarball just go to :

http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.2/index.html

Choose your language, OS and mirror, download, untar and read the Installation guide pdf (also see the Download page link on right of page).
You don't need to be registered to download. Registration for OOo is just to maintain statistics, or if you want to report a bug or RFE you have to register to log-in.

Most find with minor upgrades (eg 1.1.0 to 1.1.2) it is best to install to a separate directory eg /opt/OOo1.1.2 and then copy configuration, dictionaries etc across.
