Edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config to specify 16-bit or 24-bit,
or, if you're booting to console, type startx -- -bpp 16 or
-bpp 24 or even -bpp 32. Just make sure you leave a space
after "startx" and after "--" and after "-bpp" Otherwise it
won't work.
