Actually, online at http://pricewatch.com, you can do a search for "external 56k modem" and you should see several different stores that are currently selling a cendyne v92 external serial modem for $18 or so including shipping. Base price in any computer store, if you can actually find an external serial modem as opposed to an external usb modem will run $60. That is pretty much why I made the suggestion, for $18, you really can beat the ease and convenience of just getting an external serial modem for Linux rather than messing about with all those linmodem drivers and perhaps still not being able to get all your apps, like fax software, etc. to work with them. -- Bryan Phinney
