Dear Linux-Mandrake:

1) During the kernel update process (MandrakeUpdate), I was informed
that I would have to update my lilo.conf file. That was indeed
user-friendly and very critical. Unfortunately, details were lacking and
I had to rely on other sources. In the process, I forgot to run lilo
after changing the version number (/sbin/lilo)

May I suggest that the screen that says: "you'll need to update your
lilo.conf file be modified to say:

"You will need to update your /etc/lilo.conf file by changing the kernel
version number and then rerunning lilo by typing as root "/sbin/lilo."

This information contains all the relevant data to help the user know
PRECISELY what to do after updating the kernel. This is so critical that
I urge Mandrake (and other distros) to do this for the sake of the
newbie. And the instructions, I believe, are brief enough to fit on that
screen.

2) Is there any way to automatically configure and run the paralell Zip
drive. This is one of the most frustrating problems for a newbie. It
would be a tremendous help to the newbie (and even more advanced user)
to have this problem solved once and for all. If we can automatically
configure and run the floppy and CD and SCSI Zip drive, why not also the
parallel Zip drive?

YOurs,

Benjamin
