The important word is *BIOS*. Can you go into your motherboard's BIOS settings at boot, and select 'USB' in addition to 'floppy', 'CD-ROM', 'IDE-0', etc. The kernel little relevance here, although clearly it will need to to be optimised for USB after you have booted. -- ______ Paul 5B8BA
