I'm running hotwayd(http://hotwayd.sourceforge.net/)on my router/firewall/gateway box(MDK9.0)& computers on my LAN can get mails with POP3 protocol from hotmail.There is no difference between Opera,Firefox or something else.Mail accounts for hotmail are configured so that incoming mail server is mygateway and port is port where hotwayd listening (177 in my configuration).
