If a newbie to Mandrake Linux wants to look for software for linux, what is the best way? Google?

Ryan has already mentioned *how* to install new stuff on Mandrake, so I won't bother to repeat it. If what you're looking for is suggestions on *what* software to install, I suggest you ask here - though if you ask something like "which web browser should I try" you must be prepared to receive many different and equally sensible recommendations ;-)
