Hotplug has already associated the driver with the USB device and registered it. Now all you have to do is attach an application to the character device /dev/irda0. Check out Digikam http://digikam.sourceforge.net/ also install gphoto2 http://www.gphoto.org/ Digikam is a **really nice** image management app. It will capture images from USB mass storage cameras, or any camera supported by gphoto2.
