So "telinit 3" into level 3 (you know the good ol' CML;)) and plug in whilst running "tail -f /var/log/messages" there and on another tty running "mc" (to try and read your device) and on yet another tty just logged in as root so you can "telinit 1" into level 1 if things turn bad. At least you'll know whether it's just the w-manager or not. It can't be that bad. -- Good luck, HarM
