Thanks: your suggestion was right. From the kde menu, I went into: Configurations -> KDE -> Components -> Session Manager, and there I selected the 'Restore manually saved session' option, then 'Apply' and 'OK'. Then, in the kde menu, just above 'Lock Screen', the 'Save Session' icon magically appeared. The curious thing is the following: suppose I set the session management onto the first possibility, the 'Restore previous session' option, and then I log out with Ctrl-Backspace instead that clicking 'Logout' from the kde menu. Then the system will go on restoring always the same session, the last one that was left clicking 'Logout' from the kde menu. (You can experiment this.) Maybe this happens because logging out with Ctrl-Backspace is not as correct as logging out by clicking 'Logout' from the kde menu? That's the problem I had encountered and that you, Alex, helped me to work out. Rodolfo
