If I go to the software updates (Configure my computer) and choose one of the update servers I am unable to download the update list, on all of the servers world wide. I can download stuff, just downloaded the deb iso's and email so no problems with connecting to net in general, just the mandrake update stuff.I have installed the Linux Format DVD disk version.
In my case, the solution was to:
1) Register to Mandrakeonline with a new login name (it was already taken by someone else - hence "your log in password was wrong" in my case)
2) I was given a Mandrakeonline activation code by e-mail
3) After a login to my Mandrakeonline account with my web browser I went to my "hosts" page and activated my host (computer). Now I was able to use my Mandrakeonline service to this computer (for a month, because that was what I got with a boxed version of Mandrake).
And until you solve your problem with Mandrakeonline service, you can always use MandrakeUpdate without any payment. :) Updates there are as quick as on Mandrakeonline servers.
