The only difference betwwen Community and official at this point is that any updates are placed right into the distribution tree for Community, but are placed in a seperate updates directory for Official. > > not use it. Is it possible to upgrade to Official without having to > > reinstall Mandrake as Official instead of Community? This also brings Sure. Just change your urpmi sources to an official mirrir, (make sure an update source is included) and then 'urpmi --auto-select' The main advantage of running offical instead of community is that it takes a lot less time to update your urpmi sources with official because you are only updating a much smaller hdlist from the updates dir instead of the hdlists for the whole distro. This is because the dist tree is static with official. I personnally like community, because I keep a local mirror, and when I do a clean install, all the updates are already installed. -- /g
