Check that directory (you will need to su to root) and if you have a slew of packages there try to install them, one at a time, until you see which packages can't be installed. This should tell you where the error lies.
Once you know that you may have to try several possibilities. You could delete that package and try again - it could be a bad download. You could try a different mirror - there could be a problem on the server. If you still can't do it, bring any messages to the list.
