What I went through to import this output into this message you wouldn't believe. First I typed it into my laptop, then saved it to a floppy. Lastly my mail program allowed me to import it to a message.
Anyhoo this is the output I got from scandisk as well as I could copy it, caps included. I hope someone can tell me what all this means. I hope it means the modem will work under linux so I won't have to go out and buy another one.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] /mnt/windows/temp/scanmodem chmod +x scanModem

If this is what you typed in as a command, it doesn't make much sense. You are trying to run the command "scanmodem" in the "/mnt/windows/temp" directory, and you are passing it "chmod", "+x", and "scanModem" as command line options.

UPDATE=_Jan_18

/mnt/windows/temp/scanmodem: gcc: command not found

scanmodem tried to compile something, but you do not have the gcc compiler package installed.

It sounds like it may be supported. Unless someone know the modem, it is hard to say. With the error message at the start of the script, I am not sure how valid the output is. I will have to take a look at the script and let you know. Probably sometime tomorrow.

I am not sure what you are trying to do with "run scandisk.gz". "run" is not usually a program on a Linux system. It is also not a built in shell command. The other thing is that you normally can not execute a compressed file. If you are trying what I think you are trying, it would be like typing "run test.zip" at the DOS prompt.
