more likely not the 256, but what ever of that 256 is "shared video memory" so 
to get the install, when it askes "hit enter  to install, or f1 for other 
options, hit f1 and type (without the quotes, of course) "linux 
mem=240M" (don't foprget the last capital M) if you have 256 installed memory 
and 'share' 16 megs as video mem. or if you have 32 megs shared video mem 
then subtract 32 from the 256, (linux mem=224M)
