I get the same message when I use shift-ZZ to exit.

This happens in a konsole in KDE, and it also happens if I use ctrl-alt-F1 and log into a pty session. vi seems to *work* okay, it just gives me this odd message.

That is wierd, Dave. I have been using 10.1 for a while now, and I have never seen a message like that, and I use vim/vi all the time.

I have used vi under KDE in both konsoles and xterms and I have not seen such messages. Does this message appear when you specify a file as an argument to the editor? Does it appear when you run vi on its own?

It sounds to me that the editor is complaining about '^V' which has a significance similar to "\" in the shell. It would be odd to begin a line with it. What happens when you specify the "-b" option to vi?

cheers
Duncan
