Try looking under Tools -> Auto Correct/Auto Format -> Auto Correct -> Options

Then un-check the boxes for URL Recognition. No guarantees, I haven't tried it 
since I installed MDK 10.1 a week ago.

It is, indeed, a nuisance when all you want to do is correct a typo or some 
such and have the browser pop up.
