[newbie] a couple of question

hello,

   I have two questions.

1)   I am having trouble mounting the cdrom and the floppy.  When i click on
the floppy icon it goes to mount then it says "wrong fs type, bad option,
bad superblock on /dev/fd0, or too many mounted file systems" i used kfloppy
to format the disk.  When i click on the cdrom icon it says "you must
specify the file system type".

2)  How do you change the depth and the resolution of the screen?

I am operating on mandrake version 6.1
