All, (I think I sent this message prior to officially joining the list,
still looking help.)
I recently installed Linux on an empty partition but was disappointed to
learn that I have a winmodem and thus cannot use Linux exclusively. So I
decided to play with Lnx4win. I am having trouble getting through the
install however; it bombs erratically while decompressing the program files,
usually in 2-3 minutes but it has run upto 6 minutes. I performed scandisk
prior to installation and found that something is periodically and
eratically writing to disk. I believe this is happening also during the
install. It does not appear to to be fastfind, nor are there any other
programs running (I used the alt-cntrl-del pop-up to close any running
programs. I also tried remarking many of the drivers in the windows
system.ini file. I just can't find anything that would be writing to disk
this way. I have a pentium 90 with Windows95 and Plus! Also, I have a
compressed drive I use for backup for my primary drive. Any ideas?
Thanks
Jim Meyer
