I'm also a newbie and sometimes known for extremes, so take my advice for
what it's worth...
I would use kexplorer and navigate to the /etc directory. Next I would
rename the isapnp.conf file to say isapnp.conf.backup. I would then rerun
sndconfig. Running sndconfig will create a new isapnp.conf file. If this
does the trick, all is well. If it doesn't work and you want to go with
your original isapnp.conf file again, just rename the backup.
