[newbie] Basic doubts

Hi I am very new to Linux and I've installed Mandrake 6.0 yesterday.  I am trying to use Netscape without success since it couldn't find any URL.  Seems it can't resolve DNS.  After dialling  with KPPP I can ping and telnet any IP and login too.  I couldn't also use my e-mail client since am getting an error message and SMTP also doesn't work.  Is there any FAQ available or any setup I should do to get my Netscape and e-mail client up and running?
