Thanks for your quick reply Chmouel.

I noticed you were the packager of some recent additions on rpmfind that had to
do with xfree86 servers. After reading the video how-to's, specially the video
timings one, I still don't know where to turn to settle the problem I'm
experiencing.

I have an ATI Mach 64 (CT) card running at 1024X768 in 16 bpp. The resolution
is fine, like it has always been in OS/2 including xfree86OS/2., but when I
scroll vertically or move a window on the display, I see thin white lines
flicker across the screen. I uncommented the memory line in the config file and
changed the refresh rates to match the monitor specs to no avail.
Is this something that can be fixed with XConfigurator?

If there's no other way than to try out different modelines, I guess I
eventually will but would prefer a simpler solution. I must add that the
scrolling also produces interference in the sound, in Netscape and locally also.
The CDs play fine though as the player is connected directly to the soundcard.

I have another little problem, related to the modem this time. I connected to
the net two hours after installing Linux-Mandrake with no problem (six weeks
ago), upgraded Netscape since and all in all it's been fine most of the time,
but...

The telephone company should pick up my calls when the phone isn't
picked up after so many rings or if the line is busy. Since I installed Linux,
it doesn't work, the phone will ring indefinetely if I don't pick it up (if the
caller is very patient) and I've been told that the line gives the busy tone
when it is. I tried to set up the voice-fax application in KDE, but put it
aside for awhile. I guess it's time I get it going now and think I ought to
settle the modem thing first. I looked through the archives but can't seem to
pinpoint this particular modem problem.

Much thanks in advance.
Pierre Lucas
