Have you tried explicitly setting the username and workgroup to make the
connection under?
smbclient -W TheSimpsons -U bart -L homer
If you do that, you should be prompted for barts password on TheSimpsons
workgroup, and, once entered, you should be able to see the services
available on Homer.
