I guess that youre running Madrake 6.x with kernel 2.2.x. In that case,
the service you need, is ipchains (called ipfwd in kernel 2.0.x). I
believe that there's a HOWTO in /usr/doc/HOWTO called IP-Chains-HOWTO or
similar.

Read through that.

If you use a modem to dial to the Internet, you would need diald to
(There's a howto on that too) and perhaps even a DNS server (of course
there's a HOWTO on that too).

Another goood source of information is stored in the man/info pages. You
access these by typing 'man diald' as an example. Many of the config
files in /etc have their own man file to. Try it. If there's no man
page, it will let you know. 
info pages are another form of man pages that you access though a
cammand called 'info' just add the command/filname after and it will get
that page.
