[newbie] Modem

I installed linux 6.5 on my pc which contains
windows 98.

linux does not recognize my modem.
My modem is conexant soft k56 PCI Modem.
( I am able to use it from windows 98)

Any set up needs required to acheive this.
 Any pointers would be appreciated ?
