I am new to linux and I have just installed
ManDrake Linux 6.1 for evaluation. I encountered the following problems
:-
1) I chosed Server Installation and I did not get
KDE environment when I start X-Windows. Is KDE package installed under Server
Installation ? How do I change the Window Manager to KDE ?
2) I have setup Apache Server and able to use IE5
browser to access the default index.html page. However, when I run FTP client
from a Windows 98 PC, I managed to signed on and then the access to
/home/httpd/html directory is rejected with the message "Block access
fail".
3) Also, I get blank screen when attempt to access
the server via Windows 98 telnet client.
For problem 2 and 3, I believe I have missed
something fundemental in network service access. As a new comer, I am desperate
to get some services working. It is most appreacited if somebody can point the
way.
