[newbie] Fonts, network, and sound

i am having problem with my PnP NIC and opti sound card.  And my font server
is not working properly.  Can someone give me a clue?:)   I am using
mandrake 6.5 deluxe,  NIC is acerlan 101,  Opti is 16 bit and I am very new
with linux.
