I've not tested it but this should work:
- create a LILO boot floppy disk.
- remove drive 0 and set drive 1 as the master drive.
- book using the floppy disk.
- when you get into KDE, run kLILO to change the boot drive to the MBR
again.

I'm actually not even sure if this would work as the book floppy would
probably expect to boot off Drive 1.
Give it a try, if it doesn't work just stick drive 0 back in again.
