[newbie] MDK7 installation problems

I've been having trouble getting Mandrake 7.0 to install properly.  Every
time I try to install it it gets as far as Setup filesystems and then stops
with the following error:

An error occurred
no available partitions.

I've tried everything I can think of to fix this, even reading the archives
to see what other people with similar errors have been told.  Any help would
be greatly appreciated.
