Umm...afaik, the lanuage used in the original email IS
correct. Why doesn't it work? One of several answers --
1) The memory is flaky and therefore not reporting the
correct memory size, 2) the motherboard is flaking out on
you and not reporting the correct memory size, 3) you have
something configured wrong in your BIOS causing the
motherboard to report the wrong memory size. 
Regarding option #3: On most motherboards these days,
there's an option for a non-os/2 operating system. Make
sure that's set to "non-os/2." Also, make sure you don't
have "memory hole at 16M" set to yes.
Other than that, I'd take your ram to a reputable computer
store and have 'em check it.
