First let me give you a brief on my system.
I am running Win98 runing on a IDE hard drive(pm) and I have a IDE CD-ROM.  And I just obtained an old Adaptec ISA 1540/1542CF SCSI host controller and a SCSI hard drive on which I am planning to run LINUX.

So I d/l'ed the ISO image of MDK7.0 and burnt on a CD.  I start the installation from CD-ROM.   At the step where I choose what seems like a proper SCSI module(AHA1542), I tried both with param and without and every time it looks like it is actually detecting the controller and loading the module(flashing diode on the controller and hard drive) but after awhile, it will just sit there without any messages or activity.  So I had to do a alt-ctrl-Backspace to exit.

What's puzzling me is there it is in the list, AHA1542, but why is it not detecting it?  I checked out the SCSI controller in its bios and it looks fine.  However, as I am not an expert when it comes to SCSI devices, I was hoping your expertise on the matter can help me out a bit.

Thanks.
