I think there are some good html docs available for postfix installed
with Mandrake. Try looking in: /usr/doc/postfix-19991231/html/

While on the subject of postfix, I would like to point out the
following: Postfix appears to be a "default" startup service.
Personally, I had no idea what postfix was at the time so left well
alone. Unfortunately, it wasn't long until I realised some of my e-mail
wasn't getting delivered. The reason was that postfix was listening for
my ISP to send mail via smtp, which they do by default. Because postfix
wasn't configured properly, the mail was getting rejected and returned
to the sender. The only mail I received was the stuff that I managed to
download via pop3 before the smtpd kicked in!

My point is this (sorry to waffle). If postfix is going to be enabled by
default, it should be made clear what it is etc. on the kde desktop or
some other obvious place. Better still, it should be disabled by default
as I think most ppl now use pop3 to get their mail. (anyone from
Mandrake care to comment on this?) Or maybe the main.cf file for postfix
could be set up during the install routine for Mandrake, just like kppp
is etc.

Hopefully I'm not completely wrong about this, I'm still very much a
newbie to Linux, although I've been on the 'net for several years and
used to use smtp via a DOS port of a UNIX program called KAQ9.
