Thank you for the replies I have.  I have already tried using KLilo but it always returns an error (i.e. syntax error near line 10 and then Lilo died).  Unfortunately, I have problems installing win 98 and I had to install it second, which means it overwrote the boot section and erased my original Lilo setup.  I've managed to write what I thought was a working liloconfig file but when i boot up the system it  boots directly to linux, and if I hit tab it only lists 'Linux' or 'rescue' as the possible choices.  I am going to work on it some more but I appreciate all the help.

Try running KLilo and adjust it there.

Subject: [newbie] LiLo set up

I tried setting up Lilo by using QuickInst.  I have win98 and Mandrake 7.0 both installed on separate partitions. I setup Lilo on /dev/hda and then told it that the other OS was on /dev/hda1 (which I thought was the way you were supposed to do it) since the FAT32 partition is known as /dev/hda1 to the linux OS (at least I think so).  When I tried rebooting the system it jumped directly into Linux however and did not give me an opportunity to choose the operating system I want to start up.

I would appreciate any help.  Thank you very much.
