[newbie] 2 cd drives linux only finds one???

I am quite new to the Linux platform, but so far i love it.  There is one small problem i have two cd drives one dvd and one burner.  The system always recognizes and mounts properly the standard drive.  The secondary cd burner it never recognizes and i'am a little bit lost and how to fix this if it is possible.  Any help would greatly be appreciated. They are both internal (ide) drives??????????????..........
