[newbie] NumLock

I have got the NumLock auto starting when I boot up.  I even see the script
call it up and the Num Lock light goes on on my keybd, but when it gets to
the Xwindows login screen where I enter user id and go into kde the light
goes off.  Is there somewhere else Im supposed it initialise the NumLock?
