Life is as hard as Linux (sometimes )

Hi together,

I'm running into the next problem. I've learned that the new SBLive isn't supported
without the emu10k1
module. nice.
I'm running with MD 6.1 sound is enabled inside the kernel (read out of the startup
msg)

So far so good, now the questions:
1. Do i have to install the "alsa" software ? or is it enough to use "modprobe
emu10k1"
2. is there any rpm outside to make it easy ?
3. is there a readymade emu10k1 module outside ? ( creative hasn't it anymore ? !)
if yes: can I use it without any further install (trouble)?

What I've done:
1. I took "audiofile-0.1.9-2mdk.src.rpm..rpm "
after installing I havn't found wat to do next so I relaxed an read some
HOWTO's but I've got no idea

2. alsa-driver-0.5.2.tar.gz and alsa-utils-0.5.2.tar.gz are nice too :-)
I read the driver "how to install" and did the /config; /make .....

after that I edit my etc/modules.conf, did a reboot ....... and installed the
system once more due X hang
with a flickering screen to get a plain new system.
Do I have to use the alsa-utils-0.5.2.tar.gz ? I thing it's only usefull
after installing properly ? !

Well I know I have to go and buy a book for learning howto deal with installing new
prgs but what can I
do before?

Bye Peter
