[newbie] No KDE or GNOME.

I just installed Mandrake 7.0 with both KDE and GNOME.  So I type 'startx' 
at the prompt and all I get is two fixed xterms on a plain back ground.  I 
tried 'startkde' and 'kdm_on', but no avail.

Any ideas?
