I also use a cable modem, with 2 NIC's installed. For my setup, I inputted all the info for my cable account, and voila it works. I am NOT using DHCP (<--I think that is correct). This may or may not be your problem. Either start DHCP or stop using it, whatever your setup is now. Maybe also check over your ISP info in "linuxconfig" w/o quotes from a console, in the network area, and make sure your info is correct.
