Hi, I think it is not necesary to do fdisk/mbr before upgrading.
In addition, if you have no data on your hard disk, may be you
should repartition your all hard disk and create only the partition for
windows, install it and then install MDK creating the ext2 partitions in
the free space of the hard disk. If you have already windows
installed, you can clear the ext2 partitions in your hard disk with a
linux fdisk for example (or into the same linux installation process),
then into the blanck space of your hard disk you can install the MDK
and redo all the partitions again, and go on with the full installation.
