DEAR U66 CRASH TEST DUMMIES

As you all know, M7.0 does not have a support for UDMA66. We do have a
dirty hack to allow installing M7.0 on boards with "hpt" chipset, but our
kernel does not take advantage of UDMA66 mode.

The reason for this is simple: Patches which enable UDMA66 support are
still "beta", and known to break hardware compatibility.

However, quite a lot of you out there are very eager to get UDMA66 support
at any price. Therefore, Chmouel has uploaded an experimental kernel with
U66 support (in particular, for "promise" and "hpt") UDMA66 chipsets to
contributions section.

We know that this kernel is not going to work with some hardware, because
U66 patches break quite a lot of compatibility, especially with older
hardware. There is also a chance of corrupting your HD, and loosing
the data.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. DO NOT BLAME US IF YUOR HD MELTS, YOUR MOTHER BREAKS
A LEG, END OF THE WORLD COMES TOMORROW, OR WHATEVER.

If this has not discouraged you yet, you are welcome to test the
new kernel. Install the rpm package, add a new LILO entry (this should
happen authomatically I think, but CHECK it!!!), run lilo and
reboot with new kernel. Good luck!

Yours

        Denis Havlik
