Check your /etc/fstab file to make sure your drives have assignments there.
They probably look like
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto defaults,user,noauto 0 0
/dev/hdb /mnt/cdrom iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0
The cd rom assignment will depend somewhat on your particular disk numbering
(hdb, hdc, ---)
