Could someone post their mtab and fstab entries for their swap
partitions and/or any information that might help me get mine working in
7.0?

I've tried mounting that partition in a directory I created and got "fs
type swap not supported by kernal". Am I missing a kernal module?

I tried to post a message here earlier but I don't think it posted, here
is the body again and excuse me if its a duplicate:

----------------------------------------

Hi, I just installed Mandrake 7.0 and am having trouble with my
swapfile. I know I specified it in the install, but now it's not set
up.

If I try to manually mount /dev/hda7, mount returns "mount point swap
does not exist". Should I creat a directory /swap for this to mount
in? If not, where? Why wasn't this automatically done by the DrakX?

Also, my hard drive performance has diminished since installing 7.0.
hdparm reports buffered disk reads <4 MB/s. In 6.0 I think it was ~19
MB/s. I have an WD 1366AA which is Ultra66. I don't recall doing any
tweaking when I installed 6.0.

results from swapon -s:

Filename Type Size Used Priority
/dev/hda7 partition 265032 0 -1

my fstab:

dev/hda7 swap swap 0 0

I'm sure this is something simple but I'm feeling stupid. All other
distros I've installed set up the swap correctly so I never had to do
anything until now.

Thanks
