[newbie] Help with Video config

Hello everyone.   I am installing Mandrake on my Athlon box, and am having trouble with my video card.  It is built by Biostar, who also makes my motherboard, and has the SiS 6326 chipset (win2k tells me it is an "SiS 5598/6326" card).  It is an AGP card.  I can't get it to give me a display - and the closest I've gotten is a full color, correctly sized desktop that doesn't allow me to read text.  Anytime any texty is displayed, it appears as a black block character.  How do I set up this card in the installer properly?   Thanks for the help Brian
