[newbie] UMAX scanners

I know that the UMAX 1220U is not supported, but the 1220S is.  The 1220U is
a USB interface; the 1220S is the SCSI version.  Can the driver for the
1220S be used for the 1220U if the cable is converted to a SCSI connector
and run through my SCSI card?  Or is the device too different?
