I had a similar problem with a NIC. Here is what I did. I queried to see if
the module was installed: modprobe xxxxxx.x (I think emu10k1) and even
though it was trying to load it upon boot & lothar recognized it, it was not
installed. I next did insmod xxxxx.x. This installed the module. I rebooted
and viola all was well.
