[newbie] ?Multiplexed? Interrupts in Linux

I have a weird question, I seem to remember as long
as unix has been around, and I don't think that Linux
is any exception, I am wondering about those
serial cards that can multiplex interrupts giving
us more than just 4 cua ports.

Or is there a nice big FAQ about this somewhere
describing it intensely?
