Two ways:

#1: Go to the big K (or if in Gnome, hit the foot and then go to "KDE Menus")
and then go to Graphics>Snapshot. 

#2: Start up The Gimp (under Graphics) and then in the menu bar, go to "Xtns"
and then "Screenshot".
