My understanding was that the major difference between RHL and Mandrake Linux
was that mandrake has all the packages built for the Pentium-class systems
(i586).

I've been running Red Hat since 4.0 and I was thinking of changing to
Mandrake, but I think I'm going to wait until we get away from this 7.0-2
instability stuff.

I figure that the versions of Red Hat and Mandrake that have kernel 2.4 and
the (by then stabilized) new XFree86 4.0 will come out about the same times.
I'll have to make a decision by then...

No, my friend, the way to have good and safe government, is not to trust it
all to one, but to divide it among the many, distributing to every one exactly
the functions he is competent to. It is by dividing and subdividing these
republics from the national one down through all its subordinations, until it
ends in the administration of every man's farm by himself; by placing under
every one what his own eye may superintend, that all will be done for the
best.
